OSCARS OUTLOOK 2022:
ALL OF THE FILES

UPDATED: Feb 4, 2022

Latest updates: This is the ultimate Oscar prediction, and it's as expansive (and confusing) as ever. We could see a "normal-looking" roster repeated by multiple clans, or we'll see a tumultuous awards season where surprises and surprises will come nearly everywhere. everywhere. Of course, there will be anything in between.

Here is the full list of predictions, Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" is predicted to lead with 10 nominations. At the same time, Jane Campion's "The Power of the Dog" and Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story" are expected to receive an impressive 9 and 7 nods respectively. Campion himself stood on the precipice of making history once again. While she was the second woman to be nominated for best director for "The Piano" (1993), the film was also the first to be nominated for Best Picture, written by a woman only. writing, directing and producing. Only two others followed - Debra Granik's "Winter's Bone" (2010) and Greta Gerwig's "Little Women" (2019). She would be the first woman to be nominated for a second time if nominated as a director.

Kenneth Branagh's "Belfast," who is widely considered the frontrunner for best picture, is also likely to gain a healthy seven mentions (or eight if Jamie Dornan can make it along with co-star Ciarán Hinds).

It looks like there are about five or six films vying for two best picture spots, with the same repetition in the acting categories. As always, we can assume some shocking misses (like Amy Adams in “Arrival,” Tom Hanks in “Captain Phillips” or Paul Giamatti in “Sideways”).
