Abdul Razak Alhassan shows he’s ‘one of the best’ at UFC Vegas 48

Abdul Razak Alhassan is in a prime position to enter his UFC Vegas 48 competition.

UFC Vegas 48 is an important card for potential clients across the UFC looking to make an impact in their respective divisions. Abdul Razak Alhassan is someone looking to stay motivated, but he has a big test standing in front of him in Joaquin Buckley.

Alhassan has had a string of ups and downs in the UFC since his debut in 2016. He converts wins to losses, both in the singular and on a three-fight streak. After losing his debut, he won the next three, lost the next three, and then won against Alessio Di Chirico in his final match in August.

“You know how important that is,” Alhassan said. “Going through a three-game losing streak is not fun. Having that win was a huge help and confidence boosted, so that’s good.”

That push was important because, in Alhassan’s own words, he was beginning to doubt himself and his place in the UFC. But it took encouragement from his family to get him back to where he knew he could.

“Yea, I doubted myself every day. After my first loss, that’s when I started doubting myself,” Alhassan said. “The way my family talked to me. Let the past be the past and focus on the future. You are better than that and that helped me. ”

Another step Alhassan took was to change the scene to prepare for battle. He is dividing his time between multiple factions, but most importantly Team Elevation on the recommendation of UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

“Kamaru was the one who suggested it to me,” Alhassan mentioned. “I felt like I needed another place that could push me. To make me work like I used to. To bring out that killer side in me. “

Joaquin Buckley delivers excitement and tends to win long-term knockdowns

That’s exactly what he’ll need to do as Buckley is a massive damage dealer known for delivering violence whenever he steps into the cage. Buckley has also traded recent wins and losses, but when he finishes in a knockout, he is known to do so in a highlight-reel fashion.

“Literally, we try to undo each other. He is good, but I am better,” Alhassan concluded. “Everything is in a good space and I love it. I would be happy to be out there. ”

UFC Vegas 48 takes place on Saturday, February 19, 2022, live from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
