Abandoned baby found at home in Blacktown, Sydney

An abandoned baby has been found in a house in western Sydney.

A resident called police after going outside and finding the baby on the side of their home on Girra Rd, Blacktown, around 2.40pm on Friday.

The baby, believed to be no more than a day old, was taken to Blacktown Hospital for a check-up.

It’s unclear if the baby was born at the property or elsewhere.

Police believe the baby was left in the home between 12.30pm and 2.40pm on Friday.

They are now searching for the child’s mother, with police concerned for her well-being.

“A police operation is now underway nearby while officers investigate to locate the mother,” NSW Police said.
