Aaron Rodgers opens up about the family drama in a recent interview

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared how an ayahuasca trip transformed his life, including his relationship with his immediate family.

Ayahuasca is life changing.

At least, that’s how many people describe it after experiencing the intense, enlightening hallucinations produced by this powerful plant-based psychedelic.

In fact, people from all over the world travel to Peru where shamans perform individuals introspective experiences on ayahuasca retreats. Aaron Rodgers recently unveiled that he was among them and visited Peru for an Ayahuasca retreat in 2020. The experience transformed him, and Rodgers believes it’s “no coincidence” that he enjoyed back-to-back MVP seasons after ayahuasca trips in 2020 and 2021.

In Rodgers’ case, the ayahuasca retreat helped him ignore “negative voices,” which allowed him to “give my heart fully to my teammates, loved ones, and relationships because I can accept myself unconditionally.”

Still, Rodgers says he hasn’t repaired all of the relationships in his life, namely with his immediate family members. Rodgers has been under public scrutiny for years when his strained family relationship with his brother became public. Jordan Rodgersfeatured in season 12 of The Bachelorette.

Although nothing is fully resolved at this time, Aaron Rodgers says he has “a lot of hope for a cure at some point.”

“I really felt like I wanted to surrender and open myself up to medicine so that some healing could come through and some guidance on how to go about it. And it didn’t. Not necessarily. The big message was that unconditional love for myself is the key to being able to heal all relationships – with them, past relationships with lovers, whatever it is… So that gives me a lot of hope to heal eventually.”

In 2016, Jordan Rodgers appeared on The Bachelorette, where he was courting his now-wife, JoJo Fletcher. Jordan told Fletcher that she couldn’t meet Aaron while visiting family.

“My middle brother won’t be there Aaron. As I said, I have a great relationship with my brother Luke. Me and Aaron don’t really have that big of a relationship. It’s just the way he chose to live his life and I chose to stay close to my family, my parents and my brother.”

At the time, Luke Rodgers, the Rodgers’ eldest sibling, spoke openly about the impact of not having Aaron active in her life.

“It hurts both of us not to have this relationship [with Aaron] – we miss our brother”, said Luke Rodgers. “I trust that God will come full circle and it all comes back to being a family.”

Both Luke and Jordan remain close as Luke decided to honor his brother by naming his son. Jack Jordan Rodgersafter his younger brother in June.

Aaron Rodgers has reportedly not spoken to his family since December 2014and while the exact reason remains unclear, multiple sources have suggested that Aaron is the one who chose to keep his distance.

Following The Bachelorette’s commercial, there were several instances of Aaron Rodgers angering his family members, including when Luke and Jordan criticized Aaron for asking for assistance during the 2018 California wildfires.

“PLEASE DONATE, SPREAD AWARENESS & SEND LOVE” said Jordan in response. “But when your mother is home alone during the fires, the car is packed for evacuation, and you miss the essential first step of compassion; Call your parents to make sure they’re okay… Everything else just feels like an act.”

In 2020, Aaron Rodgers’ criticism of Christianity is said to be “dismayed‘ multiple family members as Rodgers comes from a deeply religious family.

That being said, all three Rodgers brothers have now expressed their hope that a healing can one day take place. Maybe after Aaron’s last trip it will finally be.
