Aaron Rodgers cites the psychoactive ayahuasca tea for his state of sanity

Aaron Rodgers was quizzed about his mental health and made a rather startling revelation about his use of ayahuasca, a psychoactive tea.
From his “immunization” rather than vaccination regarding COVID-19 to his participation in wild purges, that’s been made clear Green Bay packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers loves natural and holistic remedies. And that apparently extends to his approach to taking care of his mental health.
That doesn’t make his latest revelation in that capacity any less jarring, though.
In a podcast appearance with Onnit founder Aubrey Marcus (a nutritional supplement company), Rodgers spoke about his use of ayahuasca, a psychedelic tea containing the hallucinogen DMT, to improve his mental health and his practice of self-love, but also to help him also help as players.
Aaron Rodgers used ayahuasca to improve mental health and help with self-love
“To me, that self-love is one of the cornerstones of your mental health. That’s what ayahuasca did for me, it helped me see how to love myself unconditionally,” said Rodgers (h/t to SI). “Only in this unconditional self-love am I really able to love others unconditionally. And what better way to work on my mental health than having an experience like this?”
The NFL’s reigning back-to-back MVP also said the process through ayahuasca, a tea used for thousands of years in different cultures for its properties, has helped him become a better teammate as a “model of unconditional love.” becoming as important as playing well or being a leader.
While fans are naturally fond of poking fun at Rodgers’ holistic approach to many things, mental health is obviously a hugely important issue, and it’s certainly positive that the Packers star has achieved a good place in that regard.
What’s shocking, though, is that his use of a hallucinogenic substance led him to his point, given the NFL’s long-standing banned substance policy and the fact that players were frequently suspended for marijuana use. In this case, that is certainly worth mentioning.
