Alex Garland is back with a new horror movie called Man. But the movie new trailer was released on Wednesday, and while it gives us a few more clues about the movie than the previous trailer, it still leads to more questions than it answers. And maybe we’ll have to wait until Man premieres in theaters on May 20 to find out exactly what’s going on.
Movies starring Jessie Buckley (Daughter is gone) as a woman who moves to an estate in the English countryside to help look after it. Of course, things get weird as soon as she arrives, and she begins to feel that she’s being haunted, possibly by the ghost of her husband who mysteriously committed suicide. Meanwhile, all the men around her in this small town know to hide some kind of secret.
Also, the trailer doesn’t have much plot to reveal. Instead, it gives us more macabre footage of lavish homes, apple trees, and Rory Kinnear.
With Ex MachinaGarland also performed Destruction in 2018, a freelance adaptation of the science fiction novel of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer. Next, Garland took a break from acting to create, write, and direct a complex sci-fi series called Developers. With all this grit, this seems to be Alex Garland’s most horror-focused project yet, with no obvious hint of the sci-fi of his previous work.
