A woman suffers life-threatening injuries in an accident on the Princes Highway in Werribee

A woman is fighting for her life after a truck and car crash in west Melbourne.

The truck and SUV collided on Princes Highway in Werribee just before 9 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the SUV was trapped inside the vehicle with injuries to her chest and pelvis, Ambulance Victoria said.

The 49-year-old woman was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old from Caroline Springs, was not injured. He stopped at the crime scene.

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

The incident follows another serious accident late Thursday night that left a teenager in critical condition.

The 19-year-old is believed to be driving a blue Toyota 86 coupe on Corunnun Road in Cororooke just after 11.50pm when he went off the road.

The car crashed into a power pole and then crashed into a tree.

According to Victoria Police, the car exploded and both the car and the tree caught fire.

The teenager was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

The exact cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

Anyone with information about either accident is urged to contact police.
