A Waltons Thanksgiving – What we know so far

In early May 2022, The CW announced their plans to release “A Waltons Thanksgiving” sometime in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Variety. But recently, the network finally gave a concrete date. Mark those calendars and find some family time in front of the TV, away from the hectic Christmas shopping. According to TV Insider, “A Walton’s Thanksgiving” is set to premiere on November 20, 2022. It’s similar to last year’s schedule for The Waltons: Homecoming, as that film came out on November 28, 2021. “The Waltons” has the winning formula for cozy family television, but there’s a more technical reason why The CW considers November this magical month.

According to Deadline, “The Waltons: Homecoming” was the second most watched special for the network’s 2021-2022 season. So The CW hopes to repeat that success this year. Depending on how “A Walton’s Thanksgiving” performs, we might consider an annual Christmas release for future projects. The fact that The Waltons: Homecoming was a popular hit is a testament to the franchise’s surprising longevity. Thomas perhaps put it best when he told the Associated Press, “It’s kind of amazing that 50 years later we’re still talking about a show.”
