NASCAR returns to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with next-generation cars from Hendrick Motorsports

the 24 Hours of Le Mans was and still is one of the most famous, if not the most famous motorsport racing event in the world, bringing together top manufacturers from around the world to demonstrate the endurance and technical prowess of their cars, organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest is organized (IMSA) in France.

now NASCAR has announced a historic collaboration with IMSA On Thursday at Sebring International Raceway, the giants of the international racing organization will team up with the NASCAR outfit Henrik Motorsportautomaker Chevyand sponsors Good year to introduce a modified next-generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.

Workshop 56 will enter in the space reserved for highlighting innovations and technologies that exist outside of WEC regulations and it will not take the space from the traditional grid. This will be the second time NASCAR has competed at Le Mans, with the first entry being in the 1976 Grand International class Herschel McGriff both drive their own Dodge Charger and Richard Brooks and Dick Hutcherson Driving in with a Ford Torino.

NASCAR Chairman and CEO Jim France in announcing a historic collaboration with IMSA is one of the goals of his late father, who wanted NASCAR to have a visible role on a global scale. He went on to say that NASCAR has the most successful team on their entry with the likes of Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet and Goodyear and that they will look forward to showcasing NASCAR’s technological capabilities at Le Mans.

Rick Henrik acknowledged that he was privileged to compete in the 224 Hours of Le Mans and to represent NASCAR, and shared his admiration to NASCAR Chairman and CEO Jim France for the idea. Rick Hendrick went on to say it is a humbling and challenging opportunity for Team Hendricks, adding that the team is ready to launch a bold product in France.

It is a privilege to compete in one of auto racing’s truly legendary events and to represent NASCAR and Chevrolet on the world stage. Jim deserves tremendous credit for having the vision for the project and we thank him for entrusting this responsibility to our organizationsaid Rick Hendrick.
