A man jumps into the Swan River during a dramatic police chase
A man jumped into the Swan River during a dramatic foot chase on Friday.
Police claim the man fled when officers confronted him outside a building on Hay Street.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 11.10am after it was publicly reported that “two suspicious men” were trying to break in.

One of the men, in their 30s, was arrested at the scene and the other ran away, according to police.
Witnesses saw the man running down Elizabeth Quay followed by officers.
Police claim he then pulled a knife before jumping into the water.
The water police and the TRG were called in and the standoff ended peacefully.
The man, in his 30s, was still in custody on Friday evening.
The investigations are ongoing.
