A lorry crash in Launceston leaves one dead and two seriously injured as a lorry pulls into a house in Invermay

A man has died and two people were seriously injured when a truck crashed into a house in Launceston.

The lorry is believed to have collided with a car before crashing into the back of a nearby house on Goderich Street, Invermay, around 6.50am on Wednesday.

The truck driver and the two occupants of the car were seriously injured and taken to Launceston General Hospital for treatment.

Police later confirmed that the truck driver died from his injuries.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” police said.

Although photos from the scene showed significant damage to the home, its residents escaped the incident with no injuries.

Emergency services remain at the scene while police investigate how the tragedy unfolded and work to clear the street.

Motorists should expect delays as southbound and northbound lanes are closed on Goderich Street.

Motorists are asked to use Vermont Rd and Invermay Rd until further notice.

A report is prepared for the coroner.
