‘A frustrating end to a good week’, fear of injury looming Andy Murray days before Wimbledon » FirstSportz

2-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray reached his second tour final of the season but unfortunately went down fighting Matteo Berrettini in the final. He lost the final in three sets 4-6,7-5,3-6 and experienced slight discomfort in his hips and stomach towards the end of the match. Murray has struggled with injuries in recent years and plays with a metal hip after a career that has threatened hip surgery.
Struggling on serve and pain in the third set, Murray called a coach and took a medical time-out. He finished the match but definitely wasn’t at 100%. After the match, Murray admitted he was in pain on serve, but it wasn’t new to him. He said he had no idea how serious his injury was and would have it checked out once he got home.
He added that he hasn’t played as much tennis in the short two weeks since 2016. So it’s understandable that he might feel a little uncomfortable.
“I do not really know. I got a stomach ache when I served. Nothing I’ve never had. I dont know. I need to get it checked when I get home. That’s the most matches I’ve played in two weeks since probably 2016. I played nine matches in 14 days. I played Thursday-Saturday at Surbiton last week, then here Thursday-Sunday.” he said.

Then he talked about his performance at the Stuttgart Open and said that he had a very good couple of weeks but the ending was very frustrating for him.
“So it’s probably normal for me to feel something in my body, but I don’t really know how bad it is. I need to get it checked. Hope it’s okay. I’ve had some good wins, it’s been a good week but not in the way I wanted to end it. A frustrating end to a good week.” he said.
