‘500k to Light it Up’ Dana White reacts to immense losses threatening Jake Paul after MSG Main Event cancellation » FirstSportz

Dana White x Jake Paul
White had harsh words for Paul’s current manager and former UFC CFO Nakisa Bidarian

Dana White has repeated at many press conferences that Jake Paul’s questions are his least favorite, and yet he gets one every week. Whatever one might have thought after recent developments in Paul’s boxing, Dana might have been happy to know that his main fight had to be cancelled. However, the UFC boss was incredibly reticent in his response.

Jake was originally supposed to face Tommy Fury on the August 6 card, but after VISA issues resulted in Tommy being denied entry into the US, Hasim Rahman Jr should step in for Fury with a month’s notice. The son of a former heavyweight champion, Rahman would have been the first professional boxer in Paul’s record. However, there was a stipulation that said Rahman had to weigh himself under the 200-pound mark, with restrictions on his rehydration in the 24 hours after the weigh-in.

It was announced today that a week before the event, Rahman was still a long way from gaining weight. The NY commission decided they would sanction the fight even if it was held at 205 pounds, something Paul and his camp agreed to. However, when the revised contract was sent to Rahman, he announced that he would weigh 215 pounds and if he did not agree to this requirement it would mean that he was withdrawing from the fight

Dana White isn’t happy that Jake Paul’s event has been cancelled

White has repeatedly endorsed former UFC champion Anderson Silva as the perfect opponent to gauge Paul’s skill

dana has been a promoter for a long time and tries to tell people who are new to the game that getting two people to show up for a fight isn’t always as easy as it seems. That was advice Dana threw in Paul’s way when the YouTuber started his own fight promotion called MVP Promotions. At the UFC 277 post-fight press conference, Dana was asked about his reaction to the cancellation as opposed to hosting fights every weekend.

“I’m not going to sit up here and be happy or excited that their fight fell out, I mean both of those guys put in a lot of hard work, a lot of training to prepare for this fight, a lot of money, but I’ll say that , just because you were an accountant here doesn’t mean you know what the hell is going on.” said Dana, referring directly to it Nakisa Bidarianthe head and founder of MVP Promotions and former CFO of the UFC

Dana advised Jake to gather some other people around and said “If he wants to stay in this sport, he needs to be around people who really know how to fight.” When Dana was asked by a reporter if Rahman was coming heavy for the fight, he would completely deflect the question to give a useful insight into how much this might cost Jake.

“I think they’ve sold less than $1 million in tickets and it costs $500,000 to turn on the lights at MSG.” said White, having personal experience hosting fights in the legendary arena. When a follower was asked if they had any idea what the process is to rebook the arena at a later date, Dana simply said: “I know what my business is, I don’t know what your business is with MSG”
