50 Cent claims several G-Unit members blame him for their career flops

50 Cent has fallen out with some of his former friends and artists. In a recent interview with Houston’s 97.9 The Box, the New York rapper was asked if anyone who wronged him had apologized.

“Yes, I get that all the time,” 50 divided almost 20 minutes into the conversation. “The bad thing is when you’re often in the driver’s seat… no, every time something goes wrong, it’s your fault. If you’re asking artists why their careers haven’t gone the way they want them to, this is it [fault of the] record label. Do you see what I’m saying?”

As CEO of G-Unit Records, he said, “I became the record label by accident; So all these artists that were there and didn’t do exactly what they thought they were supposed to do, it’s my fault it wasn’t done. They now give it to me one by one as if it were not the company but him.”

Fifty launched G-Unit in 2003, the same year as his number one debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin, which topped the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The label steered the careers of other New Yorkers Lloyd Banks, young buck and Tony Yayo. That same year, the quartet released their debut album, Beg For Mercy, which peaked at number two. Other artists on the label list are rappers The game and the First Lady of G-Unit, R&B singer Olivia.

Fifty then brought up one of his former artists, the West Coast rapper Spider Loc, who signed to the label in 2004 at the height of his career. “He was angry with me; I do not know. If he had a hit, it would have worked,” explained the Like My Style artist. “It just didn’t work.”

He also mentioned that he had a record with rappers OT Genasiswho signed with G-Unit and later moved to Atlantic Records.

“After that record didn’t work, he went and made a hit record,” 50 said before singing Genasis’ 2004 hit “CoCo.” He continued, “That’s why me and he have the best relationship ever because he was let go and he was able to do that. He went and made this hit and went and made his money.

He hinted that some of his former artists are “mad” at him for not achieving the success they wished for in their careers.

“The other people are upset because they felt like they could have done it, ‘if you did it for me. So ‘it’s your fault you didn’t do it for me.’ He concluded, “I can’t get people to buy records.”
