The Philadelphia Eagles may look to upgrade their roster by adding some pieces in free agency.
In a year where many thought the Eagles in 2021 would be in the bottom four of the tournament, the Birds made it to the NFC knockout stages. Even though it was only the 7th seed and they were surrounded by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Super Wild Card Weekend, the team went far ahead of schedule during Nick Sirianni’s first coaching tenure at Philadelphia. The pressure is great now.
Here are five free agents the Eagles can target with nearly 21 million dollars in salary cap space.
Philadelphia Eagles: 5 players to target in 2022 NFL free agent
RB / WR Atlanta Falcons
Above all this is all about winning the ball in the hands of Cordarrelle Patterson
It’s hard to argue a free agent acquisition last year was better across the league than Cordarrelle Patterson for Atlanta Falcons. Tennessee’s previous first-round pick had been a Pro Bowl specials player, but no team before Atlanta figured out how to best use him offensively. Is he a widely receptive person? Is he running again? The answer is yes, because he is a football player! What a get!
While Patterson may want to return to Dirty Birds for another year, the Falcons continue to fall into disrepair with limited pay. The limit of boxing defender Matt Ryan reached in 2022 will be a record. Meanwhile, it might be massive enough for a Pro Bowl-level player like Patterson to slip through the cracks. Can you imagine what he could do in this Eagles attack?
The idea behind acquiring Patterson would be to make up for the loss of Jordan Howard in free agency. Since Patterson is a veteran and can do a lot at this point in his career, his inherent versatility will allow Sirianni to be more interesting with his play in one phase. Attack was built for Jalen Hurts. Patterson doesn’t fit everywhere, but he could fit very well if he wants to play for the Eagles.
However, for Philadelphia to land Patterson, Birds will have to pay the total premium to get him.
