49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo says a margin win over the Rams feels ‘quite like a Super Bowl year’

There are plenty of surprises in Week 10 of the 2021 NFL regular season, but one of the more notable is San Francisco 49ers‘October 31 dismantling Los Angeles Rams on the second night. It was an outcome not many expected, as the 49ers were dominated by the backup of The Arizona Cardinals just a week ago, and seem poised to extend their eight-game losing streak at home to one of the strongest teams in the world. NFL. That didn’t happen.
49ers ran the ball 44 times in 156 yards, the defense was forced to reverse twice, Deebo Samuel recorded a great performance in the receiving game and Jimmy Garoppolo throws twice hitting the ground and only four times failing to finish. This is the 49ers that many were hoping to see this year, and after the game, Garoppolo said something very interesting about the outing.
“Honestly, it feels quite similar to Super Bowl five,” said Garoppolo, via 49ersWebzone.com. “It felt like we ran the ball 30 times each time that year. When we were able to do that and succeed in third, it was a good formula for us.”
Back in 2019, the 49ers attended Super Bowl LIV with the fourth-best offensive line in the league and the second-best defense. Running games have committed a crime, like Raheem Mostert, Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman made the number 2 rush-hit behavior in the NFL. The defense was loaded, as three players scored double-digit tackles to lose and Richard Sherman Turn counter-clockwise to be the leader in the secondary group. Some of these players are no longer in the franchise, but Monday night’s win is really reminiscent of the 2019 49ers. Rookies run again. Elijah Mitchell ran hard all night, and finished with 91 yards on 27 runs, George Kittle featured as both receiver and saver, and caught the first touch of the game while the defense organized one of the best fouls with a total of just fouls 278 yards and one touch of the ball.
The 49ers (4-5) have a very realistic shot to make behind the scenes – like many teams in a messy NFC. The current holders of wildcard points are New Orleans Saints at 5-4, and Carolina Panthers at 5-5. Both teams are making midfield changes, which could open the door for others. The 49ers have another chance to create some momentum for themselves next Sunday, when they hit the 2-7. Jacksonville Jaguars.
Monday night is important because it shows us the 49ers still have the potential to play as one of the best teams in the NFL. If they can build on this track record, they’ll make it to the knockout stages and possibly another chance to run the Super Bowl.
