49ers hold star receivers in San Francisco

Deebo Samuel’s contract details reveal a massive deal for the 49ers’ star receiver, including nearly $60m in guaranteed money.
Terry McLaurin got paid. AJ Brown got paid. DK Metcalf was paid. Now Deebo Samuel joins them.
The final marquee domino from the wide receiver class of 2019 has just fallen as Samuel agreed to a three-year extension 49ers valued at $73.6 million, per Ian Rapoport.
It’s a big deal that will bring Samuel more than $24 million a year.

rapport and Adam Schefter both reported that Samuel will be guaranteed $58.1 million.
However, David Lombardi said otherwise, reporting that the money guaranteed could range from $40 million to $50 million.
Whatever the number, Samuel will see quite a change before his contract expires at 29. Then he can negotiate another potentially lucrative contract.
Samuel got just a little more than Metcalf with the Seahawks last week. The Seattle bankruptcy trustee signed a three-year, $72 million deal to stay on. This deal resulted in Samuel being paid at least as much.
Now the recipient can practice again. So far he has been sitting in the training camp waiting for his contract details to be worked out.
The 49ers drafted Samuel in the second round in 2019. He showed great promise in his first two seasons but really broke out in 2021 with 1,405 yards and six touchdowns as a receiver and 365 yards and eight touchdowns as a rusher. This kind of production gave him a huge payday this year.
His unique skills allowed San Francisco to use him on the field in diverse and unpredictable ways. Signing him for an extension ensures he’ll be there to help lead the way for quarterback Trey Lance in 2022.
