The San Francisco Giants will appear to be sellers at the close and Carlos Rodón should be a hot commodity.

The trading deadline is approaching as we have less than 72 hours until the deadline on Tuesday at 6pm ET San Francisco Giants look like could be seller. Jon Heyman from The New York Post reports that the Giants are “listening” to their veterans now, and Carlos Rodón and Joc Pederson could be among them.

There are a lot of teams at Rodón that need jump-starts. In 2022, Rodón was an All-Star. In 20 starts, he has a 3.18 ERA, a 128 ERA+, a league-leading 2.41 FIP, a 1.121 WHIP, and averages 3.0 walks and 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings. In 2021, Rodón was even better, having a 2.37 ERA with a .957 WHIP in 24 starts and averaging 2.4 walks and 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings. He was an All-Star and came fifth in voting for the AL Cy Young Award.

Teams are starting to despair for the Giants to bring in Rodón, especially with him under contract until next season. Here are three teams the Giants need to call about Rodón now.

3 teams the Giants should contact about Carlos Rodón

1) Minnesota Twins

On the season, the Minnesota Twins have a 4.20 ERA for the pitcher, ranking 19th in baseball. As of July 1, their starters have an ERA of 6.80, which equates to 28th in the sport. Despite this, the club has a 53-47 record and a two-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the AL Central.

Since the club picked Devin Smeltzer to Triple-A St. Paul two weeks ago, the club has not had a left-handed starting pitcher.

The twins are also well acquainted with Rodón, as he was with division rivals Chicago White Sox for parts of seven seasons.
