3 teams in distress after failing to get Luis Castillo

Trade rumors about Tarik Skubal should surface as Luis Castillo has now moved and other teams are ready to look elsewhere for starting pitcher help.

Tarik Skubal exchanges rumours may have sparked an unexpected frenzy days before the MLB close. It seems many teams are now willing to listen to offers for their young and controllable starting pitchers, including the Detroit Tigers with one of their better arms.

It didn’t work out for the Tigers this year, despite buying a lot in the offseason. Their offense hasn’t clicked all season, which is one reason they could be looking to quickly capitalize on the strong desire of competitors in the league to overpay for starting pitcher help.

Where will the Tarik Skubal trade rumors take us next? After the blockbuster deal between the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners led by Luis Castillo, these three teams should be poised to break the bank for Skubal.

1) Tarik Skubal Trade Rumors: The Yankees need to call the Tigers immediately

No one may have missed out more on the Castillo takeover than the mighty New York Yankees. They’ve been a prime target for Castillo for weeks. Unfortunately, they weren’t willing to offer the Reds as much as they did the Mariners.

There are many places the Yankees could go next. Skubal is one of those young and controllable arms that they have to give a lot of consideration to aid their rotation on the track.

For the Yankees, starting pitching was a major strength. Gerrit Cole’s excellent performance for most of the year complements well the success they’ve had with Jordan Montgomery and Jameson Taillon. However, Nestor Cortes was the biggest and most pleasant surprise for her. Together with Luis Severino they were a great five man team.

Severino is now on the IL and there are questions about the health and durability of other starters. Skubal has options for minor leagues, as do a few other starters currently in rotation, including the struggling Domingo German.

Skubal could offer insurance to the Yankees and even allow anyone who is their weakest link in the rotation to poke themselves in the bullpen and perhaps take on the role Michael King had on the team before he went down for the year.
