Albert Pujols is poised to have one final, record-breaking season.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced on Monday that they have brought Albert Pujols back to the club on a one-year, $2.5 million deal, which will be his final season as a player. .
The Pujols will approach and surpass some longstanding major league records in this final season. What better club to do that than St. Louis Cardinals, where he began his career in the Hall of Fame. The Cardinals and the city of St. Louis will be celebrating Pujols and rightfully so.
Pujols was expected to be the club’s designated attacker when left-handed pitchers were on the field but don’t be too shocked to see him play against the right flank. Against the festival, Pujols is hitting .299 / .380 / .567.

Pujols enters the 2022 season at number 14 on the all-time grossing movie list with a ranking of 3,236.
According to MLB.com, if Pujols has 84 hits, he’ll beat Nap Lajoie, Eddie Murray, Willie Mays, Eddie Collins and Paul Molitor, who have 3,319. Pujols would then come in at number 9 on the all-time list. After Molitor, Carl Yastrzemski is in 8th place with 3,419 hits.
Total number of facilities and additional visits
Pujols has 5,923 career bases in 2022. According to MLB.com, if he gets his average 210 then Pujols will have 6,133 bases total. Next on the list are Barry Bonds at 5,976, Willie Mays at 6,066, Stan Musial at 6,134 and Hank Aaron at 6,856.
Please note, if he gets 210 bases bringing him to 6,133, it will place him one base behind Musial, a Cardinals legend, and Hall of Famer, who has 6,134. If this happens, It will be curious to see if he tries to get two more bases to break Musial’s record.
And, Pujols got 1,347 off-base hits during his career. This places him fifth behind Babe Ruth at 1,356, Musial at 1,377, Bonds at 1,440 and Aaron at 1,477.
Pujols averages 41 extra bases per season, which should give him 1,388 extra bases. If he reached this milestone, he could easily surpass Ruth and Musial.
