Former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealed why he wanted to leave Kansas City, and it wasn’t just about the money.

hill was frustrated by a number of thingsincluding a lack of goals and a perceived lack of flexibility that cost him dearly.

Hill sees the Dolphins as a more ideal situation for him personally, and an honorable mention on that list should be that Tyreek is now the face of the Miami franchise. Whether that’s a good or bad thing remains to be seen, because in such a QB-heavy league, a wideout as “the guy” doesn’t always result in more wins. The following is courtesy of Pro football talk:

“I don’t care about fame, though,” Hill said. “I don’t care about any of that. . . . The only thing that matters to me is respect within the building. Notoriety outside the building, I don’t care, man. Because none of that will win us games on Sunday. . . . That’s what I want in the building. I want the head coach to know that on Sundays the defense fears Tyreek Hill. The head coach should know that. And the head coach knows that. He knows that without the cheetah in the field, he knows, ‘Hey Pat, you’re going to have a long day today.’”

Still, Hill believes in Tua Tagovailoa and a supposed winning culture in Miami.

Why did Tyreek Hill want a trade from the Chiefs? Money cannot be ignored

Money isn’t everything, but the Chiefs were apparently nowhere near getting the contract Hill wanted when this whole saga began. According to the wideout himself, he was willing to be flexible with the front office.

Hill even went straight to Andy Reid and said he doesn’t have to be the highest paid wide receiver in football. He just wanted a contract that made sense for him and his family. If Hill is to be believed, then perhaps KC didn’t see him as an essential member of the team moving forward.

“I tried my best,” Hill said. “I spoke to the great man Andy Reid. I spoke to the quarterback. I thought, ‘Look, can we make a difference? Can we make a difference? Can the guaranteed money make sense for me? Can it make sense for my family, please?”

Brett Veach and company stuck to their guns, and Drew Rosenhaus helped find some trading partners for Hill. That’s why it all ended up going down in the first place.
