The Atlanta Braves could be very busy around the trading deadline. Which three players might not make the list on August 2nd?
That Atlanta Braves Had a rocky start, but recently turned the corner and sits second in the NL East behind division-leading New York Mets.
But some additional pieces may be necessary before the Aug. 2 close, when the defending world champions hope to become the first consecutive Fall Classic winners since the New York Yankees won three straight World Series more than 20 years ago.
If the Braves try to add a few outside players before the trade deadline, some of those on the current roster will have to be released. Which three players will be removed from the Atlanta roster after the trade deadline?
1. Phil Gosselin will no longer be on the Braves roster after the trading deadline
I think it’s safe to say that Phil GosselinTime on the Atlanta Braves roster will be short-lived. He signed a minor league contract ahead of the start of the 2022 season and the veteran infielder was recently promoted to the major league roster.
Gosselin adds depth to the infield by starting second baseman Ozzie Albies at the 60-Day IL with a broken left foot. With Albies out of the lineup for at least two months, Atlanta has turned to former Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia to fill in at the capstone.
The inclusion of Gosselin, making his third career appearance with the Braves, is little more than an insurance policy. There’s a chance Gosselin could sneak past the trade deadline as part of the Braves roster, but even if he survives into August, Gosselin won’t be part of Atlanta’s postseason roster.
