3 players from the 2021 Cubs who are failing miserably elsewhere

There are three 2021 Chicago Cubs who are failing miserably elsewhere.

That Chicago Cubs on opening day 2021 were very different from the team they had at the end of the season.

After all, they completely dismantled the team. They made eight trades between July 15th and the close, so they did everything they could to dissect their team. Of the players they traded, nearly all were former All-Stars, and many of them were key players on their 2016 World Series championship team.

All of these players are on different teams and see different degrees of success. Today we’re going to look at three players who played with the 2021 Cubs and failed miserably elsewhere.

1. Former Cub and current Detroit Tigers infielder Javier Báez

The Chicago Cubs traded Javier Báez to the New York Mets before the trade deadline last season, and he left his new team on free agency after the 2021 season.

However, Báez signed a six-year, $140 million contract with the Detroit Tigers. The problem is that Báez was a big reason the Tigers were one of baseball’s most disappointing teams and one of baseball’s worst teams.

As FanSided’s Mark Powell investigated this article Last week, Báez was one of, if not the worst, offensive players in the sport this year.

He’s been warming up a lot in the last week or so, but he’s still only hitting .217/.258/.374 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 60 games. He has an OPS+ of 82, or 18 percent below the league average, and his WAR is 0.7.
