3 All-Stars not named Juan Soto as of the record date

Met's rumours

Juan Soto’s name is making headlines in the latest New York Mets rumors, but the team may trade for these three All-Stars in his place.

Juan Soto’s name has been mentioned in many New York Mets Rumors in recent days as it emerged that the Washington Nationals are willing to listen to offers. The all-star outfielder and 2022 home run derby champion would cost a king’s ransom, perhaps more if treated within the division.

The Mets have a farm system and a couple of major leagues they could send to Washington to close a deal. However, instead of acting for Soto, what if they pooled their resources and acted against three other All-Stars?

The Mets hope to win it all this year. Rather than blast the farm system and acquire an All-Star, maybe they should turn around and see if they can land these three instead.

1) Mets Rumors: Joc Pederson is an all-star trade target named Juan Soto, not to be had

where would Joc Pederson matched the Mets? Where he pleases. He would be a natural fit to replace Dominic Smith in the squad as the tall right-hander who regularly plays as DH. Considering the ages of outfielders Mark Canha and Starling Marte, and the latter’s injury tally this season, it wouldn’t be so detrimental for the Mets to have a little more outfield depth in their roster.

Currently, the team is working with Jeff McNeil, the starting three and second baseman, as the man who usually patrols the outfield turf in the absence of one of them. When the team adds a big hitter for DH duties, they best serve themselves by making him an outfielder.

Pederson would be a power hitter the Mets could routinely place in the middle of their lineup. The question now is how available he will actually be. The San Francisco Giants are teetering on a wild card spot. They need to get hot over the next week and a half lest they become sellers.
