A mansion overlooking the harbor in Sydney that recently sold for $24 million was destroyed by fire.
Firefighters were called to the home in Northwood on the Lower North Shore just after 11 p.m. Saturday.
They were faced with a massive blaze, with some flames reaching 20m in height, according to Fire and Rescue NSW’s Jim Murphy.

He said “very strong winds” were blowing embers and posing a threat to neighboring homes.
“It was at that point that we realized we couldn’t save the burning house,” Murphy said Sunrise at the weekend.
“Firefighters were concerned about neighboring properties so they immediately went to work protecting those properties while our two crews searched very quickly to see if anyone had been inside.”
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the fire under control. It is not known if anyone was inside the home when the fire broke out, although no injuries were reported.
The six-bedroom home on Cliff Road — which also boasted four bathrooms, a wine cellar and a library — sold for $24.1 million last November, according to online data.
