2024 Mazda CX-90 price and specifications: New flagship in detail

Mazda Australia has detailed its upcoming flagship.
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 will be available in local showrooms from August this year, with pre-orders now open for the brand’s largest and most luxurious model.

Powered exclusively by electrified 48V inline-six engines at launch, the CX-90 will compete not only with the Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Pathfinder, but also with entry-level versions of the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.
As with the smaller Mazda CX-60, which rides on the same rear-wheel drive platform, the CX-90 will be offered in three trim levels in Australia. The straight-sixes (one petrol, one diesel) are the only options available at launch, although a 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid is expected to be offered sometime next year.
Prices start at $74,385 for the entry-level CX-90 G50e Touring and go up to $95,185 for the top-of-the-line G50e Azami. All prices are exclusive of road costs.
All versions of the Mazda CX-90 come standard with seven seats, although the top-of-the-line Azami can be specified with second-row captain’s chairs and a rear center console as part of two optional $5,000 packages.
“The Mazda CX-90 establishes a new dimension in grand SUV touring,” said Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia.
“This is more than Mazda’s new flagship SUV: the CX-90 is an expression of exceptional craftsmanship and human-centric technologies, a sophisticated and dynamic vehicle for families and adventure seekers.”
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 range is available to order now.

powertrains
At launch, the Mazda CX-90 will be available with two 3.3-liter inline-six powertrains with 48-volt M-Hybrid technology – one petrol and one diesel.
The G50e versions feature a 3.3-liter inline-six turbocharged petrol mild hybrid that develops 254 kW and 500 Nm. It is Mazda’s most powerful production engine ever built.
Meanwhile, the D50e models feature a 3.3-liter straight-six turbodiesel mild hybrid that develops 187 kW (3750 rpm) and 550 Nm (1500-2400 rpm).
The M Hybrid Boost system includes a 48-volt mild hybrid system that “supports the engine at lower speeds while providing improved environmental performance by using regenerative braking to replenish the onboard battery.”
Unlike some other mild hybrid systems, Mazda hasn’t confirmed exact performances to which the M Hybrid Boost feature contributes in assisting the engine.
Although not available at launch, the brand is expected to add a 240kW/500Nm 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain that will be shared with the smaller CX-60 with a 50-60km EV range.

service and guarantee
Mazda covers its entire range with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Service pricing for the CX-90 has yet to be announced, although we know there will be different service intervals between petrol and diesel models.
G50e models must be serviced every 12 months and every 15,000 kilometers; while the D50e will have shorter 10,000 km intervals between services.
