2023 World Cup Phoenix Open tips, odds, field: Surprising PGA predictions from a proven model that’s hit 8 majors

Jon Rahm enters the 2023 Worlds Phoenix Open first in the FedExCup standings after securing two wins and four consecutive top 10 finishes. He finished top of the rankings at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and American Express, and has a T-7 show at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. Rahm will surely be among the top contenders for the 2023 Worlds Phoenix Open when the game proceeds from TPC Scottsdale on Thursday, February 9th.

Rahm, the third-ranked player in the world, is listed at 17-2 in the Worlds Phoenix Open 2023 odds. Rory McIlroy is the favorite at 8-1, followed by Xander Schauffele (14-1), Scottie Scheffler (15-1), Tony Finau (18-1) and Collin Morikawa (18-1) on the PGA odds board. Before making your selection for the 2023 Worlds Phoenix Open, be sure to check out the golf predictions and predicted rankings from SportsLine’s trusted computer model.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model has gained over $8,600 on its best bets since the reboot, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicted that Jon Rahm would finish at the top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. The model also included JT Poston in his best bets to win the 2022 John Deere Classic. That bet reached +5500, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets brought in almost $1,100. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s model was centered around Scottie Scheffler’s first major championship win of his career heading into the weekend.

Additionally, among McClure’s best bets was Collin Morikawa’s overall win at the 2021 Open Championship, despite being listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. The model was also featured throughout Jon Rahm’s (10-1) first major championship win of his career at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead going into the weekend, but the model still predicted him as the winner.

The same model also nailed a whopping eight majors over the weekend. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 Phoenix Open field is closed, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results were surprising. Now go to SportsLine to see the projected leaderboard.

Top predictions for the World Championship Phoenix Open 2023

A big surprise awaiting the model at the 2023 World Championships Phoenix Open: Xander Schauffele, seven-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles this week and doesn’t even crack the top 5. Schauffele has been successful at the WM Phoenix Open in recent years, finishing in the top 10 in three of his last four starts.

However, Schauffele has struggled badly this season with his driving accuracy percentage (55.87%) and ranks 138th on the PGA Tour. Additionally, the 29-year-old ranks 75th in strokes won: off-the-tee (.212), 67th in overall putting (184.7), and 92nd in one-putt percentage (39 .74%), which doesn’t bode well for his chances of finishing at the top of the leaderboard this week. He’s not a strong pick to win everything and there are far better stats in the 2023 Worlds Phoenix Open field.

Another surprise: Max Homa, a 21-1 longshot, makes a strong run to the title. It’s hard to find many holes in Homa’s golf game these days. In fact, Homa enters the top-15 for this week’s event in terms of scoring average (69.485), strokes won: approaching green (.956), and putting average (1.691). His ability to consistently drain putts has allowed Homa to average 5.25 birdies per round this season, the sixth-best mark on the PGA Tour.

Homa also ranks fifth in strokes won: total (2,346) and 19th in putt percentage (43.06%), which has already helped him to two wins on the PGA Tour this season. These impressive stats and high odds make Homa a strong play for your Worlds Phoenix Open 2023 betting. See who else to pick here.
