2023 Volkswagen Golf price and specs

The Volkswagen Golf has received a number of revisions for the 2023 model year, losing its entry-level six-speed manual variant.
UPDATE 6/2/2023 – Volkswagen Australia has increased the prices of its Golf hatch and station wagon ranges by up to $1000 in a broader price hike.
“Shipping costs will certainly not go down. We have protected customers from related price increases for as long as possible,” said a spokesman for Volkswagen Australia.

“We do not allow orders placed before the designated increase date to be subject to an additional charge.”

All versions of the 2023 Volkswagen Golf will offer nine airbags – including a front center airbag and a rear side and full-length curtain cover.
The base models Golf and Golf Life will be the first to be equipped with the nine airbags from the “end of June production”, while the variants Golf R-Line, GTI and R from the “end of November production” will follow.
Additionally, all MY23 Golf variants will get revised Lane Assist and Travel Assist safety systems, which the company says “can detect narrow streets more accurately.”
“Should a driver drive close to the outer line of the lane due to a narrow lane, the system no longer tries to move the steering away from this line and instructs the driver to take control,” says a Volkswagen media release.
While there are no exterior changes for the 2023 model year, all Golf models get a new steering wheel airbag cover, while Golf, Golf Life and Golf GTI versions get new door panel inserts. GTI models are also given embossed sports seat covers.
The Digital Cockpit and Digital Cockpit Pro digital instrument clusters will also “show the digital speedometer more easily, even when pop-up information is displayed in the cluster.”
Finally, with the removal of the entry-level manual-transmission Golf, this makes the new entry point the eight-speed automatic-equipped Golf hatch, which starts at $35,190 before road costs.
While this technically raises the entry point since the manual was a few thousand dollars cheaper, the return of the base hatch variant for MY23 means the starting price of $36,890 before road costs for the similarly equipped Golf Wagon falls.
