2023 Masters odds, tips, predictions: Tiger Wood’s outlook from the golf model that nailed Scheffler’s win

Tiger Woods will make his second appearance of the year when the 2023 Masters tees off at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. The 82-time PGA Tour winner made his only appearance in 2023 at an event he hosts annually, the Genesis Invitational. Woods made the cut but finished in 45th place against an elite field. Woods arrives at Augusta National as a 60-1 longshot in Caesars Sportsbook’s latest 2023 Masters odds.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler is the 15-2 Masters betting favorite, followed by Rory McIlroy (17-2) and Jon Rahm (8-1). Other top contenders in the 2023 Masters field include Cameron Smith (14-1), Jordan Spieth (14-1), Justin Thomas (15-1), Will Zalatoris (16-1), Collin Morikawa (16-1) and Max Homa (16-1). Before you secure your Masters picks for 2023 to play in Masters DFS tournaments and cash games at sites like FanDuel and DraftKings, be sure to check out the golf predictions and predicted rankings from SportsLine’s trusted computer model.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model has gained over $8,400 on its best bets since the reboot, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicted that Jon Rahm would finish at the top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. The model also included JT Poston in his best bets to win the 2022 John Deere Classic. That bet reached +5500, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets brought in nearly $1,100. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s model was centered around Scottie Scheffler’s first major championship win of his career heading into the weekend.

Additionally, among McClure’s best bets was Collin Morikawa’s overall win at the 2021 Open Championship, despite being listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. The model was also featured throughout Rahm’s (10-1) career first major championship win at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead going into the weekend, but the model still predicted him as the winner.

The same model also nailed a whopping eight majors over the weekend. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the field for the 2023 Masters is set, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results were surprising. Now go to SportsLine to see the projected leaderboard.

Top predictions for the Masters 2023

A big surprise awaiting the model at the Masters 2023: Jordan Spieth, the 2015 Masters champion, is struggling and doesn’t even manage to crack the top 12. Last year, Spieth missed his first Masters cut in nine appearances, including five top-3 finishes. The Texan hasn’t won on the Tour since last April’s Valero Texas Open and has had just three top-10 finishes in his last eight starts on the PGA Tour. He’s ranked 47th in the FedEx Cup leaderboard and is looking for more consistent play throughout the season.

At four Majors over the past year, Spieth’s highest finish was eighth at the Open Championship, and his other two finishes after the 2022 Masters were outside the top 30. With his putting on tour this season at No. 114, the greens of Augusta National could pose significant problems for him. Despite being one of the more exciting and unpredictable players each week, the model suggests it is best to avoid him with Masters 2023 bets. See who else to fade here.

The model has also revealed where Tiger Woods will end up at the 2023 Masters. Wood’s only appearance of the 2023 PGA Tour season at the Genesis Invitational left a lot to be desired, but he made it en route to 45th place against a strong and talented field. While Woods still had plenty of margin and proved his hitting power is still elite, it was clear that the injuries he sustained in a single car accident in 2021 are still ongoing.

Woods has won the Masters five times, trailing only Jack Nicklaus, who has six green jackets. Wood’s last Masters win came in 2019 at the age of 43 and his knowledge of the course is second to none in the 2023 Masters field. Woods arrived in Augusta last Sunday and spent his first round of practice just hitting approach shots and putts, working on the various pin placements he’s likely to see this week. This was the same routine he used in 2019 before his last win. The model just locked his surprise Tiger Woods Masters picks here.

How to make 2023 Masters picks

The model also targets three golfers with odds of 20-1 or more who will make surprise runs. Anyone betting on these longshots could make it big. You can only see the model’s PGA picks here.
