2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Picks, Predictions, Field, Odds: PGA Expert Fades Jordan Spieth This Week

The 2022-23 PGA Tour has three more stops on its West Coast winter swing, and this week a trio of California courses will host the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. For betting purposes this is a 72 hole individual stroke play tournament, although there is also a concurrent tournament where each professional is paired with an amateur in a best ball format. The event will take place at Spyglass Hill, Pebble Beach and the Monterey Peninsula starting Thursday.
Some of the world’s best players will be taking the week off, but the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2023 field still has star power. The latest 2023 AT&T Pro-Am odds from Caesars Sportsbook list 2017 champion Jordan Spieth as a 9-1 favorite. Other PGA contenders this week include Matthew Fitzpatrick (10-1), Viktor Hovland (10-1), Maverick McNealy (16-1) and defending champion Tom Hoge (17-1). Before hitting any 2023 At&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tips, be sure to check out PGA Tour predictions and best bets from SportsLine golf insider Patrick McDonald.
McDonald is taking a measured approach to their overall picks and having a profitable 2022-23 season. He won the Farmers Insurance Open last week, backing Max Homa (25-1) as his top pick. The pundit also narrowly missed a massive 130-1 finish at the Sony Open as Hayden Buckley finished second. At the Houston Open, he scored another 25-1 shot and defeated Tony Finau 25-1.
McDonald is up more than 33 units this season with more than $3,300 in earnings for $100 bettors. He was also in the money in his matchup games, cashing huge at Brendan Steele (80-1) as the first-round leader at the Zozo Championship. The pundit ended the 2021-22 season up 42 units on his outrights, including a monster 250-1 payout on Hudson Swafford at The American Express. Anyone who follows McDonald’s advice has made money.
Now, McDonald’s studied the AT&T Pebble Beach 2023 Pro-Am field and determined its best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can now head over to SportsLine to see all of McDonald’s PGA picks and analysis.
Top 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Expert Tips
In a stunning prediction, McDonald puts Spieth in the shade, despite this being an event where he played extremely well. He won everything in 2017 and has finished in the top 10 for the past three years, including a runner-up finish in 2022. But McDonald sees some flaws in his game at the moment as Spieth has no top 10 finishes this season and made a missed cut at the Sony Open. “His approach game was slightly compromised for an extended period,” McDonald told SportsLine. “He’s 74th in strokes won and 38th in wedge proximity, and with some extra putter struggles, he’s making an easy pass on such an expensive number.”
On the other hand, the expert is curious if Hovland can finally break through to more victories this season. The Norwegian usually excels at courses where he has previously excelled, with back-to-back wins at both Mayakoba and the Hero World Challenge. He finished 12th at the 2019 US Open in Pebble Beach, and while he finished T-38 in the 2020 Pro-Am, he was finished off by a disastrous 77 in the last lap. The 25-year-old hasn’t skipped in his four Tour events this season, finishing 21st, finishing in the top 10 in two and ranking in the top 20 on scoring average. How to Make 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Picks
McDonald has his best bets on the 2023 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and he loves four massive long shots, all well over 50-1. One of these golfers is priced in excess of 80-1 and has the short game to have a lot of success on courses like the one he will see at Pebble Beach. You can find out who it is and see the rest of McDonald’s golf tips, predictions and best bets at SportsLine.
